To bring transparency in judiciary

November 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated December 02, 2016 05:40 pm IST - KOTTAYAM:

The proceedings of the Supreme Court and the High Courts should be directly telecast to make their working more transparent, C.N. Ramachandran Nair, former judge of the Kerala High Court, has said.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Right to Information and Courts’ organised as part of the Darsana Book Fair here on Thursday, Mr. Nair said the proceedings of Parliament and lgislatures were already being telecast directly. Similarly, “let the people also see how advocates present their cases and how the judges function,” Mr. Nair said. Stressing the need to bring transparency in judiciary, Mr. Nair said people had the right to be present in the court. “This is the age of open courts,” he said.
