All India Youth Federation (AIYF), the youth outfit of the CPI, has decided to put pressure on the State government to take over the land in the possession of Kerala Law Academy Law College on the basis of the Revenue Secretary’s report.

In a statement here on Saturday, the AIYF said the Revenue Secretary’s probe had found that the academy had diverted government land in its possession for some other activities. The Revenue Department had also initiated steps for the takeover of the land, with the gate and compound walls being demolished.

However, no step had been initiated to evict the hotel unlawfully doing business in the land in the academy’s possession and get the bank functioning on the premises vacated.

The probe brought out illegal constructions on the academy premises used as residence. Action on this issue was also not taken. The organisation suspected foul play in Corporation authorities’ delay in taking punitive action for constructing buildings without permits. It criticised officials who were reluctant to take quick action against such violations.

The AIYF wanted the State government to conduct a probe into the unauthorised manner in which the law academy trust was reconstituted. It said that it proposed to launch a massive agitation for the government takeover of the academy.
