The swearing-in of candidates elected to the 13th Kerala Legislative Assembly began at 9 am on Wednesday.

The representatives of the people elected to the House are taking the pledge in the alphabetic order of their names. Pro-tem Speaker N. Sakthan is in the chair.

Of the 141 representatives expected to be sworn-in including the nominated representative Ludy Lois from the Anglo-Indian community, 42 are new comers.

Among the old-timers is K.M. Mani who is already the longest serving member of the House. Mr. Mani had been elected continuously from Pala for the 12th time. Just behind him is Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who had been elected from Puthuppally for the tenth time. (The boundaries of both Pala and Puthuppally constituencies had undergone some changes this time following delimitation.)
