Sree Vijayananda Gurukula Vidyapeedhom (SVGV) Higher Secondary School at Kidangannur, near Aranmula, became champions in both the sections of high school (153 points) and higher secondary (165 points) at the district school arts festival that came to a close at Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School on Thursday.

St. Behenan’s HSS at Vennikkulam with 103 points and St. Teresa’s Bethany Convent HSS at Chengaroor with 119 points stood  second in the HS and HSS sections respectively. In the Upper Primary section, NSS English Medium School at Pandalam with 43 points became the champions. St. Philominas UPS, Mallappally with 40 points and SVGV HSS, Kidangannur, with 39 points became second and third in the UP section.

The Ranni educational sub-district with 43 points has become champions in the Upper Primary section leaving Adoor (129 points) and Konni (125 points) in the second and third positions. In the high school section, the educational sub-districts of Thiruvalla, Konni and Ranni finished first, second and third with 276 points, 240 points and 232 points respectively.

Konni educational sub-district with 304 points became the top-scorer in the higher secondary section, leaving the second and third place to Thiruvalla (285 points) and Mallappally (267 points).

Following are the first-prize winners of various cultural contests held on Thursday.

Keralanadanam: Chinmaya P., Holy Angels’ High School, Adoor

Chakyarkoothu: Sunith S. Babu, MGM HSS, Thiruvalla

Mohiniyattom (Girls): Sandra Madhu, Arya Bharathi, HS, Omalloor

Drama: St George Mount HSS, Kaipattoor

Higher Secondary section

Mimicry (Girls): P.B. Binija, SVGV HSS, Kidangannur

Classical music (Girls): Gauthami Reghunath, PSVPM HSS, Konni

Upper Primary section

Deshabhakti-gaanam: Balikamadhom GHSS, Thirumoolapuram.

Anto Antony, MP, presented trophies to the winners at the valedictory function held in the evening. R. Haridas Edathitta, district panchayat president, and Pazhakulam Madhu, Education standing committee chairman of the district panchayat, spoke.
