The Survey and Land Records Department has decided to recruit 3900 Surveyors through employment exchanges in eight districts ignoring the rank list of Public Service Commission (PSC) for Surveyors that is expiring on December 31, 2011.

As per the request from the Survey Department the Director of Employment on October 19, 2011 had directed the District Employment Officers of Thiruvanathapuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannuar and Kasargod to “book the vacancy as per the CRR maintained” in their offices.

The number of vacancies is 3900 for which 11700 candidates will have to be sent by these Employment Exchanges. The maximum number 720 vacancies are in Kannur followed by 690 in Thrissur; 600 in Kozhikode; 540 in Kasargod; 450 in Ernakulam; 360 in Thiruvanathapuram; 270 each in Alappuzha and Malappuram.

The Surveyor Rank Holders Association in a statement here on Sunday has said that it is illegal on the part of Survey Department to recruit people on temporary basis when a rank list of PSC is available for Surveyors.

The list has 2612 candidate out of which only 721 were appointed so far. Others are waiting for appointment and the rank list expires on December 31, 2011. By taking people on temporary basis the rank holders will loose their chance to get appointment. For some of them this is the last chance to get a government job, said the Association Zonal Co-ordinator V. Manikhandan.
