Social and environmental activists gathered under the banner of the district Sarvodaya Mandalam on Tuesday near the public library at Mananchira to demonstrate solidarity with the anti-corruption movement spearheaded by Anna Hazare. Environmentalist and former Dean of Students Affairs, University Affairs, Dr. A. Achyuthan inaugurated the meeting declaring support to Anna Haraze and expressing the people’s support to the anti-corruption movement. Freedom fighter and revered Gandhian Thayatt Balan pointed out at the meeting that it was high time a movement was launched to eliminate corruption which had deprived the benefits of developments to many sections of the Indian population.
