Sudheeran hopeful of order in House

March 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - KANHANGAD:

Expressing distress at the recent happenings in the State Assembly during the budget presentation day, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V.M. Sudheeran has called for collective steps to restore normal business in the House.

The turmoil witnessed in the State Assembly was most “unfortunate and painful,” he said.

Senior leaders of all political parties should make collective efforts to ensure that such incidents did not recur, Mr. Sudheeran said on Thursday.

Meet of MLAs

He expressed hope that Speaker N. Sakthan would shortly convene a meeting of senior MLAs in the presence of the Chief Minister and examine video footages of the commotion inside the House to lay down clear guidelines for the members.

There was no point in harping on controversial statements and counter remarks on the episode, Mr. Sudheeran, also a former Speaker, told reporters here.

The KPCC president was in the district to inaugurate the functions to mark the birth centenary of former KPCC president S. Varadarajan Nair. A public function was organised at the Vyapara Bhavan here.
