: City Police Commissioner S. Satheesh Bino on Tuesday called upon students to follow the “think big” call of the former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and decide for themselves about their career.

“You should decide what you would become in the future,” Dr. Bino said, addressing a group of students after inaugurating the ‘Manas’ counselling programme at SNDP Yogam HSS at Neeravil here.

The Police Commissioner said the drug mafia’s prime target was school and college campuses. Students should be wary about the activities of such mafia. He warned that the career of a student would be ruined if he got involved in a drug abuse case. It would make life miserable for the parents of such students too. Dr. Bino said in the present situation, proper counselling on campuses was a must.

Assistant Excise Commissioner Radhkrishna Pillai, who also addressed the students, said his department had placed boxes at schools for students to drop information on drug abuse activities on the campus.

The programme was organised by the PTA of the school in association with the District Consumer Vigilance Centre (CVC).

CVC president Rajesh Thrikattil presented the subject.

School PTA president K. Babu presided. School Principal Sibila also spoke. The psychiatrist attached to the district homoeo hospital, Muthu Prabha, led the counselling programme..
