Students of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thalakottukara, have developed an automatic speed control system for vehicles, thus reducing the possibility of accidents.
The team of C. Sreyas Kumar C.; Akshay Gopi; Amjad Alikhan; V.N. Vignesh and A. Erik developed an Intelligent Speed Adaptation system for vehicles, where speed can be automatically controlled by various limiting techniques, which are based on zones and traffic density.
“In this system, we propose an automatic speed control system based on RF (radio frequency) signals for accident prone areas, hospitals and school roads, where the speed control is required, explained Mr. Kumar.
The system consists of voice note, fuel cut off and partial braking system. Once the information is received from the zones, the vehicle’s embedded unit alerts the driver, to reduce the speed according to the zone, it waits for few seconds, and otherwise the device reduces the speed. A spark ignition monitor is connected to IC engine, which dictates the amount of spark voltage produced in the engine.
