The Regional Officer of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Thiruvananthapuram, has forwarded a letter to the Deputy Directors of Education (DDEs) across Kerala stating that its 1,350 affiliated institutions in the State have the approval to conduct classes from 1 to 10 (for schools affiliated up to 10) and from Class 1 to Class 12 (affiliated up to Class 12).

In the letter dated March 20, Tarun Kumar stated that some of the District Education Officers/ Assistant Education Officers (DEO/AEO) in the State have been issuing letters to CBSE-affiliated schools asking them to shift students from Class I to Class 8 to nearby government/aided schools and not to admit any more students in their classes as if these schools do not have the required permission to run the classes. The officials have also stated that the permission granted by the CBSE is only for classes 11 to 12.

“Composite affiliation with CBSE means (and includes) approval by the CBSE for running classes from Standard I to X ( for schools affiliated up to X) and from I to Class XII (for schools affiliated up to XII level) as the case may be,” he said.

The Regional Officer has forwarded the district-wise list schools authorised by the CBSE to run classes up to class 10 /12.
