Steps to protect high-security data

June 12, 2014 12:49 pm | Updated 12:49 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that steps have been taken to protect high-security data and strategic information on the websites of government departments and agencies.

Responding to a submission in the Assembly on Wednesday by Shafi Parambil on the hacking of the website of Oushadhi, a government company manufacturing Ayurvedic drugs, he said a Pakistan agency had been found to be responsible for the crime.

Mr. Chennithala said the hacking, which took place on Wednesday morning, was reported to the Mumbai-based Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and corrective steps initiated. The website had also been restored, he said.

The Minister said the government viewed such matters seriously and had taken steps to remain vigilant.

Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the government was forced to think of limiting uneconomic services to minimise the loss incurred by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation. Replying to submissions moved by C. Raveendranath and S. Rajendran, he said curbing uneconomic services was one of the proposals in KSRTC’s revival package.

He said the government would try to maintain the services as far as possible in the interests of the travelling public.
