August 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - PATHANAMTHITTA:

Spiritual leader and founder of Satsang Foundation Sri M will attend Vallasadya, a ritualistic feast at Sree Parthasarathy Temple at Aranmula, on August 13.

Sri M will be accorded a public reception on his arrival at Sathrakkadavu on the banks of the river Pampa at 10 a.m. that day, according to K. Jayakumar, organising committee convener of the programme.

Dr. Jayakumar said the reception was arranged recalling Sri M’s visit to Aranmula as part of his ‘Walk of Hope’ from Kanyakumari to Kashmir a year ago. He said Sri M would have an hour-long interaction with people at the Edasserimala NSS Karayogam Hall at Aranmula from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

Dressed in the traditional attire of the snakeboat crew, Sri M will arrive at the Aranmula temple ghats on the Edasserimala Palliyodam (snakeboat) by 11.40 a.m. Representatives of the Palliyoda Seva Sanghom and the Travancore Devaswom Board would receive him and the snakeboat crew.

Sri M would offer prayers at the temple and partake of the Vallasadya offered to the snakeboat crew, treating them as representatives of the presiding deity. Dr. Jayakumar said Sri M would leave for Chengannur immediately after attending the Vallasadya.

Team of chefs

Palliyoda Seva Sanghom (PSS) secretary P.R. Radhakrishnan said the snakeboats of Mallappuzhasserry and Maramon were given Vallasadya on Thursday. The Ashtami-Rohini Vallasadya will be held on the temple premises on August 24, Sree Krishna Jayanthi. As many as 50,000 people are expected to attend the event. A team of chefs led by Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboodiri will prepare this year’s Ashtami-Rohini Vallasadya, according to Mr. Radhakrishnan.
