Speed up work on Pampa plan: Chandy

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday directed officials to complete the first phase of the Pampa Action Plan urgently.

Addressing an official conference here, the Chief Minister said that the sewage treatment plant proposed in the first phase of the plan should be completed soon. For this the plant should be incorporated into the Sabarimala Master Plan. Technical report for the plant should be sought from IIT and steps taken for tendering of works. The plant should be commissioned before the next Sabarimala pilgrimage season.

Mr. Chandy said that the agencies concerned should immediately decide on the technology of the plant.

He told Project Director of the Pampa River Basin Authority G. Anilkumar to hold discussions with members of the Assembly and panchayats on taking up work on the second phase of the action plan.

Minister for Devaswom V.S. Sivakumar; Sivadasan Nair and M.A. Wahid, MLAs; Additional Chief Secretary (Water Resources) V.J. Kurien; Secretary (General Administration) Jyothi Lal and District Collectors of Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta were among those present.
