Officials from 35 countries coming under the Colombo Plan are attending the four-day training being organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training, New Delhi, and the Kerala Legislative Secretariat. Eminent Parliamentarians will take classes at the programme on Parliamentary procedures, Parliamentary privileges and on legislature and judiciary.

Inaugurating the programme, the Speaker hoped that the programme would kindle a new spirit of hard work.

C. N. Satyanandan, Additional Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat, noted that politics inside and outside the legislature were different. There were few institutions to impart training to legislators and officials in their task.

Secretary of Kerala Legislature P. B. Rajan welcomed the gathering.

The officials later gathered before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi before the Legislature Complex and the Speaker offered floral tributes to the father of the nation.
