Kerala and the South African Free State Province may sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on emulating some of the features of Kerala’s Kudumbasree Mission in the province.
Further discussion in this respect will take place in New Delhi, Chief Minister of the province Ace Magashule and Minister for Panchayats M.K. Muneer told the media here on Thursday.
TrainingDr. Muneer said that Kerala was willing to provide training to workers of self-help groups proposed to be formed in the province. Preliminary discussions in this regard took place between Kerala government officials and a delegation from the province headed by Mr. Magashule, which is visiting Kerala and a few other States in India.
Mr. Magashule said poverty and unemployment were major challenges for the Province. It was proposing to emulate some of the features of the Kudumbasree project for poverty alleviation and women empowerment. He was for more cultural and economic ties between the two States.
‘Model project’Dr. Muneer said he was happy that people from abroad were evaluating the Kudumbasree project as a model. The delegation had shown much interest in learning about the project.
Consul General of South African Embassy in Mumbai Pule Malefane said it was high time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited South Africa.
Besides the Chief Minister and the Consul, the delegation has Minister for Agriculture and Development of the province Mamiki Qabathe, and Minister for Public Works and Infrastructure Sam Mashinini as members.
