Six killed, six injured in cracker unit blast in Kerala

Six persons were killed and six injured in an explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit near the Keltron junction at Gramala in Athani, 10 km north of Thrissur city, on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Jofy, 31, son of the owner of the unit; Pranamkattil Anil of Vennur, 23; Thottungal Radhakrishnan of Vennur, 55, Punnayurkkulam Vadakkekadu Kazhungal Vettil Vasu Pillai, 55, of Vadakkekkad; Sajeesh, 23; and Bablu, 45, a native of Nalanda in Bihar.

The injured were rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital.

They were Elavathingal Devassy, 62, the owner of the unit, Madhavan, 62; Vennur Vijayan, 45; Chelakkara Jayanarayanan, 40; Nenmara Kunnungal Prasad, 32; and Kannambra Pazhanimala, 52.

Jayanarayanan's condition is serious.
