The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the abduction and sexual assault on a female actor in Kochi earlier this year is slated to submit its supplementary chargesheet in the case within two days.

Confirming the move, official sources said the final draft of the chargesheet was currently being scrutinised by a team of top police officers under State Police Chief Loknath Behra. “The draft, backed by solid evidence collected during the investigation, has been finalised and a scrutiny is being carried out to weed out loopholes, if any,” officials said.

Meanwhile, the uncertainty over arraigning actor Dileep, accused of hatching the conspiracy, as the first accused is refusing to die down with questions lingering over lack of adequate evidences. The senior officer, however, has sought to dismiss it as a rumour and said the actor would be made a “key accused” in the final draft.

The SIT in April filed a chargesheet against seven persons with Sunil Kumar Surendran, aka ‘Pulsar’ Suni, as the first accused. It is now slated to file a supplementary chargesheet against six others, including the actor, who spent over 80 days in the Aluva subjail in connection with it.

According to official sources, the actor has been booked under IPC 376 (d) for gang rape, 120 (b) for criminal conspiracy , 201 for destruction of evidence, 212 for harbouring criminal , besides various provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Meanwhile, civil police officer P.K Aneesh, accused of aiding Suni to contact Dileep while in custody, has been made an approver in the case. The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Angamaly recorded Aneesh’s statement to this effect two days ago.

Based on the finding, the SIT had recorded the cop’s arrest and released him on bail.

Besides the policeman, officials also hinted at the possibility of Vipin Lal, Charles and Vishnu, currently named as accused in the case, turning approvers.
