SI post selection: govt. for special probe team

September 17, 2014 03:14 am | Updated 03:14 am IST - KOCHI:

The government on Tuesday sought the permission of the High Court to constitute a special team headed by an officer in the rank of IG of Police to conduct further investigation into the alleged malpractices in the written examination for the posts of sub-inspector (SI).

The affidavit seeking permission was filed in a case filed by Vinod Kumar and two others seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the alleged malpractices. The police had registered a case at the Eravipuram police station based on a complaint alleging criminal conspiracy, malpractices, and corruption in the selection process right from 2002 onwards.

The petitioners alleged that it was found in the initial police investigation that PSC officials and State police officers were involved in the crimes.

However, the investigation had almost come to a stop, they said.
