The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) won the Calicut University Union elections held on Saturday. SFI candidates won all general seats with a thumping margin, and captured all district executives except that of Kozhikode.

The SFI lost Kozhikode executive position by one vote. However, SFI candidate T.P. Tansi captured Malappuram executive membership. The SFI shocked rival student bodies such as the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) and the Kerala Students Union (KSU) by grabbing Malappuram for the first time in six years.

Suja P. of Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode, was elected chairperson, winning by a margin of 99 votes. Aswin Hashmi Anand from WMO College, Muttil, and Rashmi K. from Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur were elected vice chairpersons.

K. Mohammedali Shihab from NSS College, Manjeri, was elected general secretary. Ansha Ashokan from Sree Vyasa NSS College, Wadakkanchery, was elected joint secretary.
