The Students Federation of India (SFI) has made a near-clean sweep in the elections held to college unions in the University of Kerala. The organisation emerged victorious in 60 out of the 64 colleges where the elections were held on Thursday.
The SFI wrested control of the union from the ABVP in NSS College, Pallippuram, for the first time. It also gained control of the unions at IHRD College, Karthikappally; Iqbal College, and Kaaviyodu B.Ed. College, defeating the KSU.
They were elected unopposed in several colleges, including University College, Sanskrit College, Malayinkeezhu Government College, Government Arts College, Karyavattom Government College, Karyavattom LNCPE, the Marian College of Arts and Science, the Sri Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Sree Narayana College in Kollam, SN Women’s College, Sree Narayana Law College, NSS Law College in Kottiyam, and SN College at Chathannur.
The other colleges where the SFI registered victories were SN College at Varkala, SN College at Chempazhanthy, Attingal Government College, Mar Ivanios College, Chavara Government College, Fatima Mata National College, Christian College at Chengannur, Ambalappuzha Government College, SDV College in Alappuzha, SD College in Alappuzha, SN College at Cherthala, and Carmel College at Muhamma
The SFI leadership claimed that they achieved victory single-handedly by contesting against the unholy nexus of the KSU, Campus Front, MSF, ABVP and the AISF.
