Two witnesses in the Kozhikode ice-cream parlour case, K. Bindu of Meenangady and Roslin of Eranhipalam, have sought the permission of the High Court of Kerala to implead themselves in Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan’s petition seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the ice-cream parlour sabotage case.
The women stated that Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty had sexually abused them and that they could not speak out the truth as they had been threatened and given money.
Counsel for the petitioners submitted before the court a letter, stated to be written by them. In the letter, Ms. Roslin stated that Sreedevi, the proprietor of the ice-cream parlour, had sent them to a house at Shoranur where they met Mr. Kunhalikutty, who sexually abused both of them.
The petitioners said that K.A. Rauf and Sherief had paid them Rs.10,000 each for not disclosing the name of Mr. Kunhalikutty when the ice-cream case surfaced. They were paid money for staying away from the locality during the case, Ms. Roslin stated.
The witnesses said had gone to a magistrate court in purdah brought by Mr. Rauf. They said they were tutored for giving evidence to sabotage the case and were paid for it.
The women stated that they were asked to wear purdah for keeping their identity secret and preventing anyone from contacting them.
Conversations recorded
They said Mr. Kunhalikutty had threatened them and asked them to state that Mr. Rauf had forced them to do all these things.
The women said that they were also made to speak to Mr. Rauf and the conversations were recorded.
A Division Bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice K. Vinod Chandran will consider the petitions on Tuesday.
