Scuffle at AIYF march

A march taken out by the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) to the Kottayam taluk supply office on Tuesday turned unruly when the police blocked the protestors in front of the office.

The demonstration was taken out in protest against the decision of the State Government to raise the retirement age of government employees.

AIYF state joint secretary Subesh Sudhakaran and district committee member Lijoy Kurian sustained injuries that had taken place between the AIYF activists and the police personnel who blocked the agitators from entering the supply office.

AIYF district secretary R. Biju inaugurated the march at the district committee office of the Communist Party of India. District president V.S. Manulal also spoke on the occasion.

AIYF leaders P.K. Soji, Kishore K. Gopal, K. Praveen, N.D. Shajimon, Biju Jacob, Ajith Vijayan and Jayakumar led the protest.
