A 13-year-old school girl was run over by a school van while she was on her way to school near Arthunkal here this morning.
According to the police, Angel Miranda, 13, the daughter of Antony and Mary Mable of Ottammassery House, and a Class Eight student of the Arthunkal St. Francis Assisi School, was cycling her way to the school when she tried to give way to a school van that was coming from the opposite side. However, she lost balance and fell right in front of the van, which ran over her.
Though locals rushed her to a private hospital in Cherthala, she died by then. The police have registered a case against the driver of the van. The vehicle belongs to the Kandamangalam Higher Secondary School.
