201 working days in new school calendar

Extracurricular activities will be completed by December 31

The Education Department has approved the calendar for the 2018-19 school year envisaging 201 working days. Schools will reopen on June 1.

All extracurricular activities will be completed by December 31 during the current year and the department will make interventions aimed at enabling all SSLC students to secure A+. Special attention will be paid to each student based on their scores in the model examinations to be held in February 2019.

The State School Arts Festival will be held from December 5 to 9 in Alappuzha. The school level arts festivals will be completed by September. The subdistrict level will be completed by October and district level festivals by November.

The State science fair will be held from November 9 to 11. As in the case of arts festivals, the contests at the lower primary level will be concluded at the sub district level and that at the upper primary level at the district level. Only high school and higher secondary school level students will take part in the State level science fair.

The annual examinations for classes 1 to 9 will take place in the third week of February and the SSLC, Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary examinations will take place between March 6 and 25.
