Sara Joseph, writer, became a member of the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday. She told presspersons that it was time for a second freedom struggle.

“The rise of AAP shows that such a movement is gathering momentum. Corrupt politicians should be out. Good governance should be in.

“The power should be back with the people. It is time to clean up the system. Long before the AAP was formed, I had wielded a broom symbolically to campaign against the accused in the ice-cream parlour case,” she said.

She criticised Cooperation Minister C. N. Balakrishnan’s reported statement that banks should provide loans to meet dowry demands.

“How can a Minister utter such a statement? Dowry is a social evil and it should not be institutionalised,” the writer added.
