Sanskrit varsity to set up virtual theatre

March 09, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST

A virtual theatre to be set up on its main campus in Kalady near Kochi would help the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) telecast expert lectures and art demonstrations live to hundreds of its students in its regional centres located across the State.

The project is part of the varsity’s efforts to utilise technology for advancement of studies and research. The virtual theatre would be an extension of the newly-inaugurated international centre for interactive teaching and learning.

“The online interactive facility would benefit students, especially those in our regional centres in places like Payyannur, Koyilandi, Tirur, etc. as they could watch the erudite lectures and seminars held on the Kalady campus real-time,” Registrar T. P. Raveendran told The Hindu on Tuesday.
