Sahithya Akademi awards announced

T.D. Ramakrishnan’s Sugandhi Enna Andal Devanayaki adjudged best novel

Kerala Sahitya Akademi awards have been declared.

Eyyangode Sreedharan, C.R. Omanakuttan, Lalitha Lenin, Jose Punnamparambil, P.K. Parakkadavu, and Pooyappilly Thankappan have been selected for awards for their overall contribution.

The award carries a purse of ₹30,000, citation, Ponnada, and a memento.

T.D. Ramakrishnan’s Sugandhi Enna Andal Devanayaki is the best novel. Ammaye Kulippikumbol by Savithri Rajeevan secured the award for the best poem.

The other awards are: S. Hareesh (short story); Samkutty Pattamkari (drama); S. Sudheesh (literary criticism); Fr. V.P. Joseph Valiyaveetil (scholarly literature); Chanthavila Murali (biography); Harikrishnan (travelogue); C.M. Rajan (translation); K.T. Baburaj (children’s literature); and Murali Thummarukudy (humour). The awards carry ₹25,000, citation, and a memento. Winners of endowment awards are: P.A. Aboobecker (I.C. Chacko award); Arya Gopi, Rasmi Binoy (Kanakasree award); Ravi Menon (C.B. Kumar award); K.P. Sreedevi (K.R. Namboodiri award); Sunil Upasana (Geetha Hiranyan award); P. Soman (Kuttippuzha award); C. Ravichandran (G.N. Pillai award); and Sr. Anu David (Thunjan Memorial essay competition award).

The awards would be presented at the Akademi anniversary celebrations.
