Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala has been opened on Saturday afternoon for the eight-day annual Vishu festival that begins on Sunday.
The Melsanthi, G.Vishnu Namboodiri, has opened the sanctum sanctorum at 5.30 pm.
The rituals will begin with the Tantri, Kandararu Maheswararu, performing the auspicious Ashtadravya Ganapati homom on Sunday morning.
The Vishukkani darshan at Sabarimala will be be held from 4 am to 7 am on April 15.
A Kalabhabhishekom and Sahasrakalasabhishekom will be performed at the Ayyappa Temple on April 12 and 18.
The temple will be closed after the Athazha Temple on April 18, marking the culmination of the Vishu festival.
