The revenue collection during the ongoing Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival at Sabarimala has crossed Rs.60 crore as on Wednesday, according to the temple devaswom.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, the Travancore Devaswom Board said a total of Rs.60.78 crore has been collected from Sabarimala during the first 31 days of the ongoing pilgrimage season. This is against the revenue collection worth Rs.52.66 crore from Sabarimala during the same period in the previous year, official sources said.
Revenue worth Rs.26.21 crore has been collected by way of Aravana sale alone during the period against its previous year’s sales worth Rs.22.36 crore.
The Hundi collection alone has been recorded at Rs.22.29 crore while the sale of Appam could fetch revenue worth Rs.5.56 crore.
