The Rubber Board has spent Rs.2.66 crore for labour welfare in 2010-11.
According to a statement here on Monday, 14,563 labourers benefited from a scheme which was intended to improving basic amenities and working conditions of rubber plantation workers.
The components of the scheme were medical assistance, housing subsidy and group insurance-cum-deposit for labourers, and educational stipend and merit award for their children.
An amount of Rs.7,272,890 was spent on educational stipend and merit award, and Rs.15,087,500 for housing subsidy. A total of Rs.1,381,000 was distributed among 284 beneficiaries for the group insurance-cum-deposit under the sanitary subsidy component, the statement said.
