RSS mouthpiece article on ‘live-in relationships’ in Kerala sets off social media storm

Observations include Kerala being "the nursery of Islamic fundamentalism" and having the "highest number of live-in relationships".

Most Malayalees may not know it, but Kerala has the country’s “highest number of youths of opposite sex living together without marriage ever since the UPA-Parliament enacted the legislation, viz.  The Protection of Women From Domestic Violence Act, 2004, which for the first time in Bharat introduced the concept of living without marriage known as ‘Live-In-Relationship’” (sic).

This, and more such revelations, populate an analysis of what is wrong with Kerala in the latest issue of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) weekly, Organiser. The analysis has set off a chain social media reaction — though the storm is more of sarcastic mirth, than outrage.

The trigger for the analysis is stated to be the Delhi Police raid on Kerala House recently. “Delhi Police raiding Kerala House Canteen upon receiving clues that its canteen regularly served beef to the bigwigs coming from Kerala, in direct defiance of the law and contempt towards the popular sentiments of the majority citizens of Bharat (and) the Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy, threatening to drag the police to the court’’ (sic)

Incidentally, just in case if anyone wondered who had set off the big cohabitation revolution in Kerala, the article says it was “the brainchild of militant feminist and Bharat’s foremost communist ideologue, Indira Jaising, who is an iconic woman amongst the college-going girls of Kerala” (sic)

The weekly magazine is also categorical that Kerala has the country’s highest divorce rates, besides the largest number of “rationalist NGOs who attack everything dear to Hinduism and its faith system, branding them as superstition” and even carry on “street activism like Mangalsutra Burning, Beef Festivals, etc. in total defiance of the sentiments of the majority citizens of the country.”(sic)

The analysis, which begins by saying there is nothing like a “collective consciousness of Godliness among the Kerala Hindus”, elaborates: “if you happened to ask any common Hindu native of Kerala of Communist background regarding Hinduism, he/she would instantly respond to you by saying: “Oh! Religion is opium of the mass” (sic)

There are more observations, including that Kerala is “the nursery of Islamic fundamentalism, financially and logistically supported by Saudi Arabia and Pakistan”, that it was Kerala that “brought the first Islamic rule by Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) under CH Mohammed Koya, a hard-core Muslim fundamentalist”, that the State has “no real State or Bharateeya national heroes” but only “Marxist leaders of China, Russia, etc. and Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia.” (Sic)

None of the top RSS or BJP leaders in the State wanted to comment on this analysis. Others claimed to be unaware. “I have not read this particular article,” the State’s most senior BJP leader and former union minister, O.Rajagopal, told The Hindu .

Mr. Gopalan Kutty, the State chief (Pranth Pracharak) of the RSS, said he had not even seen the RSS mouthpiece.

In a Facebook post, Pinarayi Vijayan, former State secretary and Politburo member of the CPI (M), alleged that the Sangh Parivar has been targeting Malappuram for quite some time now, and this analysis smacked of an attempt to foment communal trouble there.

Other findings include:

“Kerala is the only State in the country which has a gory tradition of political annihilation, popularly known as the game of toppling of governments”.

“Kerala is Bharat’s cent percent literate state while at the same time it has the history of the highest number of political murders; it has the highest number of suicide rates compared with the rest of Bharateeya states; it has the highest number of people afflicted with mental ailments and various psycho-somatic disorders” (sic)

“Sporadic political murders are a daily occurrence in the State” (Sic)

“Malappuram in central Kerala is a miniature of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where the Muslims are allowed to live undisturbed by carrying on the practice and propagation of Islam. In Malappuram, one can find cow slaughter houses at every nook and corner” (Sic)

“(Communist ideologue) EMS (Nambuthiripad) regularly visited the houses of Dalits and took part in their social functions at which dishes of beef were served which he partook, affirming to them his purported logic that “there is nothing wrong in eating beef when one can eat mutton”. (Sic)
