The Thiruvalla municipality’s annual budget for 2015-16 envisages a revenue to the tune of Rs.83,93,39,276 and an expenditure of Rs.72,12,94,000.
Municipal vice-chairman Satheesh Babu presented the budget at a council meet presided over by chairperson Delsy Sam on Friday.
The budget stresses infrastructure development. A sum of Rs.30 crore has been allocated for construction of a flyover in the town and renovation of the streams Mullelithode and Chanthathode.
A total of Rs.10 lakh has been set apart for the completion of the second-phase development of the children’s park and the swimming pool attached to it. The budget allocation for various road development works is Rs.1.17 crore and Rs.20 lakh is set aside for the private bus stand.
A total of Rs.25 lakh has been allocated for setting up biogas plants attached to houses in all municipal wards while development of Scheduled Caste settlements gets Rs.10 lakh.
