Rs. 11 crore set apart for development projects

The Kattappana municipality has set apart Rs.11,26,79,870 for development projects during 2016-17 with agriculture, animal protection, irrigation and environment getting top priority.

Of the total amount, 27 per cent is set apart in the production sector, 30 per cent in the services sector, and 43 per cent for infrastructure building.

Joice George, MP, who inaugurated a development seminar on Friday, said special consideration would be given to the municipal area while preparing projects for tourism development. Kalyanathandu and Anjuruli hills will be included in the project for tourism development based on the Idukki arch dam. Road connectivity is an important factor and with the completion of the Adimaly- Cheruthoni- Kattappana- Kumily National Highway stretch (NH-185), tourists will have easy access to Kattappana. The meeting was presided over by municipal chairman Johny Kulampilly.
