The Rotary International will initiate various projects for schools in the Rotary district 3202 in connection with its centenary year programme for turning India into a total literacy nation by 2017.
Rotary district governor Sreedharan Nambiar said here that 100 toilets for girls, smart classrooms and projector screens would be introduced in schools . He said that the initiative is part of the Rotary International’s project for enhancing the educational standards and achieving total literacy. The project includes offering training to teachers, involving volunteers in teaching in areas experiencing shortage of teachers, introduction of e-learning, opening literacy centres for literacy activities for illiterates above 15 years, helping destitute children through child development projects and improving infrastructure of schools under the Happy School scheme, he said. Mr. Nambiar also said that the programme will be implemented in collaboration with various government agencies, organisations and corporate establishments. The Rotary district 3202 includes 10 revenue districts including Kannur.
Facilities include toilets for girls and smart classrooms.
