A District Development Committee meeting, chaired by District Collector Kesavendrakumar here on Saturday, decided to fill the vacancies of teachers in all Rashtriya Madhyamic Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) schools in the district.
The officials of the Tribal Development Department said they had disbursed Rs.1 lakh each to 23 of the 43 children of the tribal people who were arrested in connection with the Muthanga agitation.
Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Tribes P.K. Jayalakshmi said all the deserving tribal people who were involved in the Muthanga agitation would be provided with the financial assistance announced by the government soon.
Ms. Jayalakshmi also directed the officials to find out the remaining 20 children and hand over the financial assistance to them.
She then directed the completion of the Mananthavadi drinking water project in a time-bound manner.
The meet decided to hand over the 17 unoccupied houses, which were constructed at Karapuzha to resettle the tribesmen who had been evicted for the Karapuzha irrigation project, to deserving tribal families after renovation. Special tahsildar of the Karapuzha dam project has been assigned for the purpose.
