A mega revenue adalat here on Tuesday provided solace to many landless families by addressing their grievances.

The adalat was held in the presence of Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash.

Addressing the function, inaugurated by K.P. Mohanan, Minister-in-charge of the district, Mr. Prakash said revenue adalats held in ten districts could resolve 2,81,167 land-related grievances.

The government had so far received 3,44,377 complaints and the adalats, held as directed by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, could resolve 81 per cent of the cases, he said.

He said the adalats in Kannur, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Kollam would be held by February 24. Adalats were being held to resolve disputes pending due to technical reasons.

The government had so far issued 1,16,71,807 certificates taking advantage of the e-district project, Mr. Prakash said, presiding over the function at the municipal stadium grounds here. The Minister gave approval to issue title deeds to 10 families at the adalat. Five fishermen families residing on the wasteland around the Kasaragod railway station were allotted title deeds at the function.

The adalat provided relief to Asma, a differently abled girl residing at Uliyathadukka in Madhur village, after her parents demanded a suitable land with road access to take the child to hospitals.

It was also decided to allot three cents to Thahira, a blind woman, and her husband Usman, residing at their ancestral house at the nearby Kollampadi locality.

Of the 11,822 applications, 8,617 cases were resolved at the adalat during which Rs.1,52,01,720 was distributed to eligible persons.
