Reveal Saritha’s statement: Vijayakumar

August 02, 2013 03:33 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:34 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Former Minister M. Vijayakumar has asked the government and the police to come clean on the first confession statement given by solar scam accused Saritha S. Nair before the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Perumbavoor, on June 23.

The confession statement, Mr Vijayakumar said here on Thursday, had incriminating evidence to suggest the role of the Chief Minister’s Office and that of the Home Minister’s in the solar scam. The government and the police hatched a conspiracy not to include part the contents of the statement in the case diary, he told a press conference.

Mr Vijayakumar said that if the government failed to reveal the confession statement, he would be compelled to make it public. He accused the police and jail authorities of physically harassing Saritha in the women’s jail at Attakulangara to retract her statement and coerce her to give a confidential statement before the Chief Judicial Magistrate absolving Congress leaders of the scam charges.
