‘Rethink support for neo-liberal policies’

April 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - KOLLAM:

The Congress should reconsider its support of neo-liberal policies, N.K. Premachandran, MP, has said.

He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a meeting to commemorate the death anniversary of freedom fighter and Congress leader A. Pachan at Karunagapally on Monday.

The pro-people stance of the Congress on the land acquisition issue deserved praise but the party should not blindly support the policies which it started promoting 25 years ago, he said.

“Of late, the Congress has been taking a strong stance against the pro-corporate moves of the Narendra Modi government.

The Congress, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, should take this forward. The party can make a powerful comeback at the national level, he said.

The function was organised by the A. Pachan Foundation.

K.G. Ravi, foundation president, presided over the function. District Congress Committee president V. Satyaseelan; Paravur municipal chairman H. Salim; Congress leader Koivila Ramachandran; and Kerala Dalit Federation State president P. Ramabhadran spoke.
