The leadership of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Kerala Congress(M) should think of restraining Government Chief Whip P.C. George from passing adverse remarks about the front, Rural Development Minister K.C. Joseph has said.
Referring to Mr. George’s comment about Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on a member of his personal staff making contact with an accused in a solar panel case, Mr. Joseph said that even the chief whip was not aware of what he was saying. Mr. George retracted his comments on the issue in the Assembly and repeated it again. The same was true with his remarks about K.B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA. People occupying prime positions should be aware of their significance.
Regarding his inauguration of a solar panel unit at Kuravilangad, Mr. Joseph said he had attended the function along with Mons Joseph, MLA. The company involving the accused, Saritha S. Nair, had offered to set up such plants in all Dalit colonies and he had enquired the possibility of setting up such units in the Dalit colonies in his Assembly segment. Ministers cannot check the biodata of people inviting them for public functions, he said.
