Renewed thrust onsocial invesment

Governor P. Sathasivam has reiterated the government’s commitment to social investments. Mr. Sathasivam said the government would strive to improve health service delivery, the lot of Scheduled Castes and Tribes, and focus on skill development of the indigent.

The government will implement the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act to improve healthcare delivery in private and public sector hospitals.

Trauma care centres

A network of trauma care centres would be established to provide emergency care to accident and trauma victims.

Stroke management units and stroke ICUs will be set up in district hospitals. Interventional radiology services would be made available at the medical colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, and Kozhikode.

A cancer care strategy for the State, and the first child and adolescent care centre in Ayurveda at Kozhikode are among the other new initiatives planned.

SC colonies will be developed through the Dr. Ambedkar Village Development Scheme. The Gothrabandhu scheme to address the issue of school dropouts in tribal areas will be extended Statewide.

Health insurance

To encourage workplace safety, a health insurance programme called “Aawas” for those from all over the country working in Kerala and a rejuvenation package for the plantation sector have been proposed. Health insurance schemes and safe housing for the transgender community have been proposed.

The “Sayamprabha” scheme will be extended to senior citizens. A scheme to provide skills and training for the residents of all 72 care homes under the Social Justice Department is being planned.
