Religious organisations and non-governmental organisations in the State have received foreign funding, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
The government is checking if foreign funds were received for the activities of the Islamic State, the Chief Minister said in a written reply to a question in the Assembly on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister said the State government had no information on the foreign currency, drugs, and weapons reaching these agencies.
Three cases related to Islamic State activities registered in 2016 in the State had been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Mr. Vijayan informed the House.
The Chief Minister said the Union Home Ministry and security agencies were providing inputs to the State government on the terrorist outfits. The government was also keenly watching the situation.
Permission to withdraw cases
Permission was given to withdraw 71 cases involving 929 persons after the LDF government came to power. As many as seven cases registered for destroying public property were also withdrawn and no compensation was collected from them, the Chief Minister said in reply to another question.
