The total revenue collection at the Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala during the just-concluded Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrim season has touched an all-time record of Rs. 128.48 crore, according to Travancore Devaswom Board sources at the Sannidhanam.
This is against the total revenue collection of Rs. 113.23 crore during the previous pilgrim season, sources said.
Aravana sales have fetched a total revenue worth Rs. 53.83 crores which was only Rs. 47.77 crores.
The Hundi collection during the two-month long annual pilgrim season was Rs. 51.04 crore which was only Rs. 43.93 crore in the previous season, devaswom sources said.
Similarly, the Appam sales have fetched a revenue worth Rs. 10.27 crore during the annual pilgrim season.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation too has fetched a record revenue collection worth Rs. 4.55 crore by way of its Pampa-Nilackal-Pampa chain service during the period from November 13, 2009 to January 19.
According to official sources, this is Rs. 53 lakhs more than the revenue collected by way of the Pampa-Nilakcal-Pampa chain service during the previous pilgrim season.
They said as many as 26.49 lakh pilgrims have availed the Pampa-Nilackal-Pampa chain service during the two-month-long pilgrim season.
Meanwhile, KSRTC officials have held a meeting at the corporation’s seasonal depot at Pampa on Wednesday afternoon to take stock of the transport facility provided to pilgrims during the just-concluded pilgrim season.
The meeting presided by KSRTC Executive Director, G.Venugopal, also discussed about the arrangements to be made in advance for improving the transport facility from Pampa to different parts of the State as well as the neighbouring States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
KSRTC Ernakulam zonal manager, M.G.Pradeep Kumar, Kollam zonal manger, G.Anilkumar and Pampa Special Officer, Easter Yashicka, also attended the meeting.
