The students of MSP Higher Secondary School, Malappuram, who qualified for the international final round of the Subroto Cup Football Tournament, were given a reception here on Monday.

The jubilant school team displayed their enthusiasm by lifting their coach Binoy P. James in the air.

The under-17 team, which had lost the cup to Brazil in penalties last year, is tipped to be the strongest school team from India.

The team qualified for the international round by defeating GV Raja School, Thiruvananthapuram, 3-1 last week.

Malabar Special Police (MSP) Commandant Uma Behra inaugurated the reception organised by the school PTA and staff.

PTA president Ahamed Sharif presided. Principal Rekha Melayil welcomed the gathering. PTA vice president M. Abdurahman and Odyssia group chairman Sasidharan offered felicitations. Odyssia group is sponsoring the school team in the international event.

School headmaster V.G. Muralidharan proposed the vote of thanks.
