Readings of Islam based on justice, virtue and beauty should be encouraged in the society, National Commissioner for Linguistic Minorities and professor of Islamic Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia Akhtarul Wasey has said.

“Conscientious efforts are needed to introduce the beauty of Islam to the new generations,” he said.

Prof. Wasey was inaugurating a seminar on the concepts of Islamic beauty here on Saturday.

He said that a practical approach to all aspects of human life was what made Islam universally relevant.

The Academy for Islamic Studies and Research promoted by the Ithihadu Shubbanil Mujahideen (ISM) organised the seminar.

“Islam is a religion that embraces beauty and charm. But it keeps a tab on us from falling ourselves into vices by enjoying the beauty,” Prof. Wasey said.

Academy chairman P.P. Abdul Haq presided over the seminar on concepts of Islamic beauty. Delivering the keynote address, Indian Islahi Movement general secretary Husain Madavur said that the society should be encouraged to enjoy beauty by upholding values.
