Reading Week fete begins

The district-level Reading Week organised by the Information and Public Relations Department in association with the P.N. Panicker Foundation was inaugurated by M. Noushad, MLA, here on Monday.

Mr. Noushad said the people of the State, especially the younger generation, had turned into a group that had no time even for reading.

The habit of reading should be promoted.

It would play a contributory role in making life pleasant and harmonious, Mr. Noushad said.

K. Jagadamma, district panchayat president, presided. Kerala Shabdam editor B.A. Rajakrishnan administered the Reading Week pledge.

A seminar on reading organised in connection with the event was inaugurated by N.K. Premachandran, MP.

Journalist Raju Mathew delivered the keynote address.
