Arrogant bus crew

Despite repeated attempts by the Motor Vehicles Department, the hardship caused by bus crew to passengers continues.

Some bus crew unexpectedly cut down their scheduled trip and put passengers to inconvenience. As for the conductors, their behaviour towards passengers is not cordial. On January 24, 2015, I took a city bus (KL 11 R 4919) from West Hill to Vattompoyil, near Kallai. But, when the bus reached the MCC Bank bus stop, he asked the passengers to alight and directed the driver to divert the bus through Annie Hall Road.

The conductor reacted in an uncivilised manner prompting me to lodge a complaint.

A weapon for the public

The Right to Information Act is one of the best legislations that has become an apt weapon for the common man to obtain information on the various transaction made by the government.

The Act proves extremely beneficial in sourcing information from officials who are insensitive to the needs of the common man. However, every effort must be taken to make the public aware of the procedures to be adopted in seeking information by invoking this Act — right from appealing for information from the Public Information Officer to the Central Information Officer who is the final authority. Only around one crore people, out of the 1.2 billion in the country, invoke this Act to obtain information. To enable the others to make use of it, the Act and its benefits must be popularised more.
