Young vocalists Adwaitha and Adeetha were far too excited before a concert last week. As they rendered some famous compositions and awed the audience at Poruvazhi Sree Dharmasasta Temple, the 11-year-old twins were accomplishing a rare feat — 100 Carnatic concerts in two-and-a-half years.

“We enjoy every second of singing and want to do more concerts in future. After each performance, we get a lot of appreciation from the audience, especially from Carnatic music lovers,” they say. According to their parents, the duo got hooked on music at a very young age. “Their elder brother Akshay is trained in classical music and the twins, even when they were toddlers, used to sit at his classes. When they were hardly four, they could sing some not-so-easy compositions and his teacher Anayadi Anilkumar started teaching them too,” says their father Rajkumar who works with KSEB. The young vocalists had their arangettam in 2015 and since then they have been travelling across the State with their music.

In studies too

The duo agree that music is their passion, but are quick to add that they are equally serious about studies. “We travel a lot for concerts, but we try not to skip any class. Our school authorities are very supportive,” says Adwaitha. They are Class 6 students of Brook International School, Sasthamkotta.
