A four-member visiting team of Kerala police after verifying the academic documents of rape case convict, Bittihotra Mohanty, who is claiming to be Raghav Rajan, confirmed here on Friday that all the certificates were forged.
The team found that the certificates were issued in the name of Bittihotra Mohanty, the son of former Odisha DGP B.B. Mohanty.
The team, which arrived in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, visited on Friday the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Training. It found that no student by the name Raghav Rajan, son of Rajiv Rajan, a domicile of Andhra Pradesh was ever enrolled here. But it learnt that Bittihotra Mohanty obtained his B.Tech in computer science from this University in 2004.
Similarly, after verifying the documents in Stewart School and Christ College in Cuttack, the team found that the son of the former DGP had passed his Class X and Plus II science examinations from the school and the College respectively in 1999 and 2001.
“We did not find any student by the name of Raghav Rajan ever studied in these two institutions. So it is now clear that all the academic documents by virtue of which the arrested person obtained his MBA from Kerala and got into a bank job are fake and they have been forged,” said Jose Joseph, who is heading the team.
Speaking to journalists here, a member of the team said it would visit Cuttack again on Saturday to hold discussions with some senior police officers of the State. The team is also scheduled to meet the former DGP.
