The Public Service Commission is planing to introduce a system to ensure the confirmation of candidates appearing for various examinations, chairman M.K. Sakeer has said.

Mr. Sakeer told reporters here on Wednesday that in order to overcome absenteeism in the commission examinations, it has been proposed to introduce a system for confirming the number of candidates appearing for an examination.

The profile of each candidate would have a provision for confirmation. Applicants could confirm their appearance by clicking the option. The commission would close the option about a month before the examination so that it would be able to get a clear idea about the turnout for an examination.

Recently, nine lakh candidates had applied for a post and the commission made preparations for them to appear for the examination. But only two lakh candidates turned out.

The validity of the existing rank list for recruiting lower division clerks would expire on March 31, he said.
