Prohibitory orders were clamped in areas under the Taliparamba police station limits on Sunday following the outbreak of violence at Taliparamba.

Violence erupted during a march taken out by workers of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in protest against the attack on the party office in the town. The marchers targeted some shops. Two workers of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) workers were injured in the attack.

The IUML alleged that the attack was carried out by SDPI workers with the support of workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Office furniture and documents were damaged in the attack. The police said the protest march turned violent as the IUML workers attacked the shops of SDPI workers and sympathisers.

Prohibitory orders were clamped under Section 78 and 79 of the Kerala Police Act. It will be in force for 10 days.
